OUR STORY

Blending Tradition with Innovation

At Lonetusker, our story began with a passionate individual captivated by the art of distillation and the allure of locally crafted spirits. Growing up in Kerala, India, he was inspired by "nadan vattu," traditional spirits cherished by locals in the tranquil areas around Paniyeli Poru.

After his studies, he started his experimental journey in New Zealand and moved to Australia, where he met his girlfriend, who later became his beloved wife. Though finding the right opportunity was challenging, he never lost hope in his dream of crafting exceptional spirits. With his wife’s constant support, he continued experimenting with diverse ingredients and refining his techniques.

Driven by a desire to make a mark in the world of spirits, he played a pivotal role in introducing the Manavatti brand to the Australian market under Royal Travancore Spirits. However, he held a deeper ambition – to create a spirit that paid homage to India's rich heritage while embracing modern innovation.

Inspired by the rustic charm of "nadan vattu" and Australia’s advanced distilling methods, he envisioned a botanical rum that would redefine the spirit landscape. Thus, Lonetusker was born – a name rooted in the Malayalam word "ഒറ്റക്കൊമ്പൻ," symbolizing strength, resilience, and independence.

Teaming up with a renowned distillery in Goa, he embarked on crafting India’s first botanical rum, blending imported botanicals with locally sourced spices to create a distinctive Indo-Australian spirit. By harnessing Goa's pure spring waters and Kerala’s vibrant flora, each batch of Lonetusker captures the essence of these two rich cultures.

For the team at Indoaussie Beverages , Lonetusker is more than just a rum – it’s a labour of love, a tribute to tradition, and a beacon of innovation. This journey has transformed their approach to rum-making, deepened their connection to their roots, and solidified their role within the community. The company is now expanding its range to include Strivers Reserve brandy, Nakedfuel vodka, and premium whiskey, with Jamaican rum joining soon.

Join us in raising a glass to the spirit of Lonetusker – a celebration of tradition, innovation, and the untamed beauty that surrounds us. Experience the wilderness of a Lonetusker.
